End of Support

Microsoft has issued End of Support (EOS) for two critical applications: Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008

EOS effective dates have been announced as follows: Windows Server 2008 reaches EOS on July 9, 2019 and SQL Server 2008 reaches EOS on January 14, 2020. Operating with either of these two servers after the EOS dates will leave your data exposed to significant security and compliance risks, if no action is taken.

What actions can you take to protect your company’s data?

Temporary Patch:
You can upgrade your storage.

Rehost Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 workloads to Azure. With Azure you get three years of extended security updates at no additional charge and upgrade to a current version when ready. Use existing licenses.

– or –

Upgrade to Windows Server 2016 for built-in security and container support. Purchase up to three years of extended security updates–cover only the servers you need while you upgrade.
